About the Photography

Thomas Black specializes in the genre known as Rural Americana. He divides the subject matter into two main categories – Rustic Relics (old barns and such) and Rusted Relics (old cars and trucks, tractors and buses).

Although most of the photographs in both categories are only lightly edited (adjusting for color balance, contrast, etc.), in many instances the Rusted Relics images are radically altered post-production, imparting a dramatic art-like quality.

Traveling from his home base in California, he has done shoots on both coasts, the South and the Southwest. Photographs are constantly being added to the collection.
